Grades 4 to 8. Author Cort Dogniez will share Metis Roogaroo stories and other stories. By sharing Metis stories, we preserve a vital piece of Metis culture for future generations.

The Metis Roogaroo Stories storytelling sessions was inspired by the Métis Roogaroo and Superstition Stories - a compilation of stories from members and friends of Gabriel Dumont Local 11, a Métis Local in Saskatoon. Many Metis have grown up with Roogaroo and superstition stories. Storytelling is essential to the Metis people, a traditional method of sharing knowledge from generation to generation.

This program is being presented to acknowledge Metis history, culture and traditions.

The program will be conducted through Zoom. At least one hour prior to the program, we will send you an email with the Zoom meeting ID. Please ensure that you have Zoom installed on your device or computer. If you don't have a library card, please visit https://www.reginalibrary.ca/register to register for one.

Presenter information: Cort Dogniez is a retired educator serving 41 years as a teacher, administrator, consultant and coordinator. Cort is a Métis man from Saskatoon who enjoys sharing stories he learned from his kohkom as well as stories about Métis history and perspectives. Cort's first book, Road to La Prairie Ronde was published by Gabriel Dumont Institute in 2020 and was nominated for two awards with the Saskatchewan Book Awards.
