Stuck on resume gaps or behavioral interview questions? Get targeted resume review and master the STAR method to craft compelling stories. Note: This is an intake list; staff will contact you to book.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: INTAKE REGISTRATION ONLY

This is an intake list, not a scheduled appointment. The date you select during registration is simply a placeholder. Once you register, our program coordinator will reach out to you directly to book your official appointment based on our volunteer coaches' availability, and to confirm whether you need resume coaching, interview coaching, or both.

Next steps: After registering, please send your resume, cover letter, and the job description to Tim at txie@reginalibrary.ca for review by your assigned coach. All personal information is kept strictly confidential.

Overview

Are you tired of feeling flustered by interview questions that start with "Tell me about a time when..."? Or unsure whether your resume is actually getting noticed by hiring managers?

This intake connects you with one-on-one coaching in two areas: resume review and behavioural interview preparation. Whether you need a second set of eyes on your resume, a structured framework for answering tough interview questions, or both, our volunteer coaches will work with you directly based on where you need the most support.

What You Will Learn & Practice

Resume Coaching

  • Targeted Review: Your coach reviews your resume against the specific job description you're applying to, identifying gaps and opportunities to better match what the employer is looking for.
  • Clarity & Impact: Refine how you present your experience so your strongest qualifications are easy to find and hard to overlook.

Interview Coaching (STAR Method)
This portion is a deep dive into the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), the standard framework for answering behavioural interview questions. You will learn how to:

  • Decode the Question: Identify the core competency (e.g., leadership, conflict resolution, adaptability) the interviewer is really asking about.
  • Structure Your Story: Master the four components of the STAR framework:
    • S (Situation): How to set the context quickly and effectively.
    • T (Task): How to clearly define your responsibility and goal.
    • A (Action): How to articulate your specific actions — this is where you are the hero of your story.
    • R (Result): How to quantify and qualify your results to demonstrate tangible impact.

Session Highlights

Personalized Feedback: Our experienced volunteer coaches will work through your resume and/or your pre-prepared interview answers, refining them to be as impactful and persuasive as possible.
Mock Interview Drill: Put your new skills to the test in a simulated interview environment, with immediate, constructive feedback.

Who is this for?

  • Job seekers preparing for an upcoming application or interview.
  • Recent graduates entering the workforce.
  • Professionals seeking a career change or promotion.

Outcome

By the end of your coaching session, you'll have a resume that better reflects your qualifications and the tools and confidence to transform your past experiences into powerful stories that prove your value, leaving a strong impression at every stage of the hiring process.

Book your intake session today and turn your past experiences into your future success!

Please Note: Because this program is heavily dependent on volunteer coach availability, scheduling may take a little longer than usual. To accommodate everyone, we may need to assign you to a different coach or time slot. Priority will be given to those with confirmed, upcoming interviews and to those who submit their resume, cover letter, and job description early. We will respond to all intake requests as quickly as possible.
