The Regina Amateur Radio Association (RARA) is dedicated to fostering the love for Amateur Radio in all its diverse facets among those who share our passion. Whether you're a seasoned radio enthusiast or just beginning to explore this fascinating world, we invite everyone who's interested to join us. Amateur Radio, often affectionately called "ham radio," encompasses a wide range of activities, including the non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-directed learning, private recreation, radiosport, contesting, and vital emergency communications. At RARA, we believe in the power of Amateur Radio to connect people, promote learning, and serve our community.

Our monthly programs are designed not only to educate our valued members but also to be accessible to the public. We warmly welcome individuals from all backgrounds and experience levels to participate and learn more about the captivating realm of ham radio. Our presenters are typically passionate RARA members who generously share their extensive knowledge and experiences. Their presentations cover a variety of topics related to Amateur Radio, providing valuable insights and fostering a sense of camaraderie among attendees.

We convene on the second Wednesday of each month, from September through June, to exchange ideas, engage in lively discussions, and advance our understanding of Amateur Radio. In addition to our regular meetings, we also venture outdoors for contests and public service events, actively demonstrating the practical applications of ham radio in real-world scenarios. April 18th holds a special place in our hearts as World Amateur Radio Day, commemorating the founding of the International Amateur Radio Union in 1925. On this occasion, if our members are available, we are delighted to set up informative displays at the library for a significant part of the day, offering a glimpse into the exciting world of ham radio.

While Amateur Radio continues to grow globally, our close-knit RARA community currently consists of approximately 20 dedicated individuals. Recent meetings have typically attracted 8 to 12 attendees, showcasing the commitment and enthusiasm of our members.

If you share our fascination with Amateur Radio or are curious to explore this captivating hobby, we invite you to join us at the Regina Amateur Radio Association. Visit our website at ve5nn.ca for more information or email us at ve5rara@gmail.com to connect with fellow radio enthusiasts and embark on an exciting journey into the world of ham radio.
