Join us every week for a drop-in beading session. You'll have the opportunity to learn from talented instructors, get inspired, and connect with fellow beaders. Supplies and refreshments provided.

The program will take place in the Community Commons on the main floor of Central library.

Instructors will each lead five sessions and will teach one or two projects throughout these sessions. Participants are welcome to bring their own unfinished projects and work alongside the beading circle or ask for guidance and assistance from the instructor.

November 9-December7: Two-Needle Stitch Poinsettia Flower Tree Ornament with Métis beadwork artist, Jessica Parr

Presenter information: Jessica Parr is a self-taught bead work artist of Michif and settler descent. She is influenced by traditional Métis style beadwork, and contemporary Métis and First Nations beadwork artists. Jessica is an elementary school teacher of fourteen years. She frequently shares her love of beading with her students by running extracurricular beading clubs, and exploring beading in the arts and Michif language classes she teaches. Jessica views beadwork as a way to connect to her heritage and explore her identity in a creative and visceral way.

This program is about learning and appreciating the art of Metis beadwork and is open to all participants regardless of Métis identity. We proudly welcome everyone to attend these beading circles.

RPL wishes to acknowledge that funding for this series is provided by Sask Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation, and through a partnership with Gabriel Dumont Institute.
