Discover the art of sewing in a two-session workshop and craft a book bag, as you master the essentials of sewing machines and needle techniques. All materials provided. Teens welcome to register.

This is an in-person program. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell. 

Registration: Registration opens on September 12, 2023, at 12:00 PM.

Location: This program takes place in CE-1, located on the 2nd floor of Central Library. The room is across from the elevator on the 2nd floor. 

Dates: Thursdays, October 12th and 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Please plan to attend both sessions to complete your project. 

This program is designed for adults, including young adults (13+). It is not suitable for children to attend or participate in the program.

In this workshop, you'll learn the essential skills needed to become a proficient sewist. From understanding the different components of sewing machines to exploring the vast array of needle techniques, we'll cover it all. The experienced instructor will guide you through step-by-step instructions, ensuring that you gain confidence and expertise in handling sewing machines and handling various types of sewing challenges.

All the necessary materials and equipment will be provided, so you can focus on your sewing skills. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some prior sewing experience, this workshop is designed to cater to all skill levels. Not only will you learn practical techniques such as threading and winding a bobbin, but you'll also gain invaluable knowledge about sewing simple seams and finishing touches that give your creations a professional look.

Presenter Information: Tammy has a background in graphic design and arts education. She learned to sew as a child and has sewn everything from clothing to bedding, to puppets. Tammy enjoys creating with upcycled fabrics and prefers vintage sewing machines.
