Join artist Erika DeFreitas to create a relaxing garden collage.
Drop-in to the Creation Cube, George Bothwell Branch, August 8 -11, 13 - 18 between 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. August 12 will take place in Victoria park with the Regina Folk Festival.
"Art Project - A seedling under the right conditions" invites the community to think about gardens as spaces for growth, rebirth, and contemplation.
Consider the plants and flowers that make a garden your home, often through much care and tending. Seeds often travel by wind to a new location, escape the confines of a defined space and grow in the cracks in the pavement and find themselves populating unexpected spaces in beautiful ways.
Working with artist Erika DeFreitas, you will create conceptual gardens with collage as a way of forming imaginary spaces that are open to chance and endless possibilities. The collages created will become an integral component to Nuit Blanche Regina, August 26, 2023 in an installation at RPL Central Library.
Erika DeFreitas’ multidisciplinary practice includes performance, photography, video, installation, textiles, drawing and writing. Placing emphasis on gesture, process, the body, documentation and paranormal phenomena, DeFreitas mines concepts of loss, post-memory, legacy and objecthood. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. DeFreitas holds a Master of Visual Studies from the University of Toronto.
