June 29th, Discover Grassland Birds by Ear: Native grasslands are one of the planet's most endangered ecosystems. Saskatchewan is lucky enough to have some of the few remaining large patches of native grassland in the world. We’ll take you on a tour of some of the sounds of these grassland areas and some of the birds you will find in various crop fields around Regina. The birds in these grassland and cropland areas are very secretive and in most cases, you will hear rather than see them! This short course will give you some tools to identify some of the more common birds in these areas by sound.
July, 19th, Discover Wetland and Shrubland Birds by Ear: Ever stop near a wetland in southern Saskatchewan and hear so many birds you can’t keep them straight!? Wetlands are some of the most biodiverse areas on the prairies with lots of birds that call these areas home. In this class, we’ll give you some tips and tricks for identifying wetland birds by the sounds they make.
