This program is offered in partnership with Reconciliation Regina. Reconciliation Regina and Regina Public Library will host Reconciliation Through Language Learning, a beginner language program series aimed at revitalizing Treaty Four territory’s Indigenous languages that were lost through Residential Schools. The languages in the series include Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, and Michif. Each series will run for 10 weeks.
The goal of Reconciliation Regina is to truly embark upon a meaningful process of reconciliation, to honor, acknowledge and accept responsibility for, to own, and participate in, redressing the harm done by residential schools. This involves a process that has no definitive roadmap, rule book, or process to follow on the path forward. This is, in fact, uncharted territory that individuals and organizations will embark upon in different, creative, and meaningful ways.
