Artist and Librarian, Shanell Papp, will show you how to work with Artificial Intelligence to create stunning images. Learn how text prompts affect the outcome and alter them to create the image you want to see.
Shanell will share her skills working with text to create images and crochet patterns. Find out how to have fun with this new technology and see it as a tool and not as an end to art practices. The invention of chemical Photography was thought to be the death of painting and drawing. AI is just another tool to use to communicate your skills and augment your workflows.
Artist Bio:
Shanell Papp maintains an intensive art practice, working in textiles, sculpture, photography/film, drawing, and AI. Her work draws together conceptions of textiles, labour, healing and the grotesque. Papp has many “soft skills”, interpersonal and practical skills in textiles. This mental and visual softness can soothe and/or provide comical catharsis. The work is very comfortable being uncomfortable, not unlike an itchy/cozy wool sweater. Papp’s work has a large following online. The work has defined new thought and directions in Textile Craft, Art and Online art. Papp holds a BFA and MFA in art, currently pursuing an MLIS to improve her understanding of information systems, textiles, online worlds, programming languages, and AI.
