Quick & Dirty is a series of short artist talks by artists in the community. Talented artists that are involved in the Regina arts community will talk about their inspirations and creative processes in celebration of FROST Regina.

Participating artists: Jaynie Himsl, Mackenzy Vida, Taylor Willford, and Erickka Patmore.

Jaynie Himsl uses fabric and a domestic sewing machine to create her art. Social concerns, life experiences and her love of big prairie skies are her inspirations. Design classes over the years along with sewing skills practiced for decades provide a firm base for her creativity. Working intuitively, she uses a variety of materials and styles to complete her original textile art. Jaynie Himsl is an award winning artist whose work has been exhibited in solo and group shows provincially, nationally and internationally. She resides in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

Mackenzy Vida (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist from Treaty 4,
Regina, Saskatchewan. Art therapy in early childhood was the catalyst that lit her passion for the arts. Globe Theatre School fostered and encouraged confidence in exploring her creativity. Her work captures moments of joy in colourful and whimsical shapes. The use of sketchy lines mimics the shaky movements of the artists anxious hands. Learn more about her work at mackenzyvida.com

Taylor Willford was born and raised here in Regina, and is a self taught visual artist with a focus on digital media. Taylor loves searching for unique angles and colour palettes wherever he is and capturing those images through film and digital photography.  He has always had a love for creation, whether that was painting scenes from movies, sculpting original characters, or sketching up mythical creatures straight out of a storybook.

Erickka Patmore is an artist living in Regina, Saskatchewan. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts from the University of Regina in 2020, Erickka pivoted her practice from printmaking to acrylic painting, finding great joy in creating bright, stylized, and intuitive pieces. They recently began  practicing digital artwork as well, and are motivated by the challenges and differences in the two media. Grateful for having the experience of various past contract work and commissions, as well as numerous previous solo and group exhibitions, Erickka plans to simply continue creating authentically— no matter where it takes her.
