Sadi will lead an acrylic on canvas painting and share her knowledge of the Sacred Seven Grandfather teachings. The sacred teachings are a guideline of traditional understandings of Indigenous peoples and connections to themselves and the people around. Please keep in mind that not every First Nations, Metis, and Inupiaq/Yupik (Inuit) peoples follow these traditions.

Materials needed: painting surface such as canvas boards, acrylic paints, variety of soft paint brushes, two water cups, paint rags or paper towel, pencil, eraser, matte varnish, soap. Optional: easel and fan.

If you already have the recommended materials, great! If you need the materials, please contact spitman@reginalibrary.ca by June 19th to pick up a free materials kit. Materials kits are supplied on a first come first serve basis, upon special request.

Plains Cree (nehiyaw) Fine Artist Sadi Rose ᓴᕀᑏ ᒥᐦᑯᑲᐧᓂᕀ Vaxvick. Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Sadi currently lives in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Sadi is registered on Ochapowace First Nation on Treaty Four Territory. Sadi has achieved her degree; Bachelor of Fine Arts specializing in Indigenous Art from the First Nations University of Canada in 2023. Sadi’s main work is painting with acrylic on canvas and drawing on a large scale. Sadi also beads, creates sculptures with Brazilian soapstone and wood. Sadi wants to illustrate children’s books and pass down the Indigenous storytelling and culture to the next generation.
