Better Birding With Jeff Gamble 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
A beginners guide to bird identification and the environmental threats they face. With 3 billion fewer birds today than 50 years ago and bird populations in decline, this presentation will teach you how you can help birds by learning 7 simple actions all while learning some basic bird watching skills and birds. This presentation was developed by Nature Regina and is a companion to the standing display in the Creation Cube at George Bothwell Branch for May. Earlier in the afternoon, Ryan Fisher will offer Birding by Ear.
Birding by Ear With Ryan Fisher 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Birding in and around Regina is a great pastime. There are an amazing number of different birds that call our city home. However, it can sometimes be frustrating to identify birds that can only be heard but not seen. This program will cover why birds sing and when. Then show you tricks for identifying common birds in Regina by sound alone. Ryan Fisher is a Curator of Vertebrate Zoology and an avid bird lover. He’s had over 20 years of experience researching birds in Western Canada. And when not doing research, you’ll probably find him out with his trusty pair of binoculars scouring the landscape for birds.
George Bothwell Branch first opened its doors to the public in 1995, and operates as a full-service branch within the Regina Public Library system.
