May 5th is National Day of Awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirited people.  The Red Dress symbol is to honour, remember, and advocate for the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. We are honoured to have Elder Brenda Dubois open this workshop series with a blessing and Advocate Tracey George Heese give a short presentation on MMIWG2S. Jenn Creeley will lead the beading workshop series.

Presenter Information: Jenn has been beading for several years. The skill of beading has been passed down to Jenn from her grandmother at Piapot First Nation. In turn Jenn passed it on to her daughter and granddaughter. Jenn has taught the basics of beading throughout the community throughout the years. Jenn has had her beadwork go as far as Australia, Japan, and Ireland. CreeHearts Design offers a variety of authentic First Nation jewelry and accessories. The most recent demand of her work is the orange shirt pins. Jenn creates the orange shirt pin with a distinct bead of gold where the heart is situated which symbolizes that all children have a heart of gold. The beaded keychains, lanyards, and earrings continue to be the most requested items. Beadwork requests can be placed through Instagram or email. Jenn Creeley is a member of the Okanese First Nation.
