Alysia Johnson (she/her) is a community member of many hats. She is the Board Chair of Carmichael Outreach Inc., co-founding organizer of Camp Hope and founding organizer of Rally Around Homelessness, a volunteer based advocacy group arising from the needs and priorities identified in the wake of Camp.
Her combination of lived experience with homelessness and continued commitments to creating change from the bottom up provides a unique perspective on what it means to effectively organize and support grassroots efforts alongside the fundamentally different work of nonprofit Board governance.
Dr. Marc Spooner is a professor in the Faculty of Education, University of Regina. His interests include: homelessness & poverty, "audit culture" & the effects of neoliberalization & corporatization on higher education, and social justice, activism, & participatory democracy.
