Adjust Tracking presents
Saturday Morning Cinema

In this new sub-series of Adjust Tracking, artist/collector Jon Vaughn shares rare VHS releases of film and TV programs from the analog era of all ages entertainment. From animation to puppetry, stop motion to picturemation, each matinee will showcase a feature film or collection of shorts. For the inaugural screening, Vaughn presents three obscure Halloween-themed gems to celebrate the season.

Lumpkin the Pumpkin
USA / 1991 / 25 min
Animation / Directed by Dan Peeler

It's Halloween. A contest is on among the spooky witches and jack-o'-lanterns to see who can frighten the children the most. But Tara the Good Witch and Lumpkin the Pumpkin don't want to be scary or play tricks. They show the girls and boys how to really enjoy Halloween and how to stay safe too. Singer Bobby Goldsboro narrates and sings this happy tale of tricks, treats, and Halloween fun. A deep cult cut!

Castle of Doom
USA / 1993 / 28 min
Animation / Directed by Robert Saakiants & Gary Selvaggio

Goblins, monsters and comedy galore fill the Halloween night as four lovable norfin trolls - Bogey, Aggie, Sureluck and Herc - enter a mysterious castle to battle the evil dr. doom and his ghostly, ghastly, goofy henchmen over a fabulous jewel. Doom wants the gems' magical powers to conquer the world, but an unseen and prank-playing spook leads them all on a madcapped adventure through the castle's secret passages and trapdoors, leaving behind the sound of weird laughter as their only clue! The subtle yet deep weirdness permeates this little known gem from the trollverse!

The Norfin Adventures (also known as Norfin Adventures) is an animated direct to video adventure series inspired by the Troll Doll toy product. The series follows a group of good Norfins (original trolls) who seek to acquire Olaf's Opal, the key to Unlimited power before the evil Norfin, Dr. Doom; can acquire it. The series aired one pilot episode in Syndication on October 31, 1993. Episodes were released to video by Family Home Entertainment (f.h.e) between the years 1993 and 1994.

About the branch

The RPL Film Theatre screens the best of world cinema – up to 15 films a month. The Film Theatre has “something for everyone” and is the only cinema in the city to consistently present critically-acclaimed contemporary and alternative cinema: Canadian, foreign and independent films and documentaries.

For more than 50 years, Regina Public Library (RPL) has played a pivotal role in the cultural life of the city of Regina and surrounding areas. In the mid-60s, interest in a permanent venue for film enthusiasts grew into a program at the Library – a co-operative effort between the local Film Council and the National Film Board of Canada. A landmark year for the cultural, multi-cultural and surrounding business communities was 1975, the year the RPL Film Theatre was officially launched.

Follow the RPL Film Theatre on Facebook at RPL Film Theatre for all the greatest updates on movies.
