In partnership with Cathedral Village Arts Festival, artists Zoë Schneider and Jon Vaughn take us on a walk-through of Eastview neighbourhood in Regina, Saskatchewan, exploring offbeat sites created by local industry, community projects, and their own backyard.
Zoë Schneider (she/her) is based in Regina, Treaty 4 Territory, Saskatchewan, Canada. Schneider works in sculpture, video, and installation to critically examine the complexity of fat identity. Schneider holds an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan (2018), and a BFA from the Alberta University of the Arts (2009). In Canada Schneider has exhibited in Regina, Saskatoon, Estevan, Guelph, Mississauga, Lethbridge, and internationally in Denmark, Germany, and the United States.
Jon Vaughn (he/they) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, independent publisher, and experimental musician/DJ. Born in Treaty 4, Saskatoon, Vaughn also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the University of Saskatchewan. Vaughn makes drawings, paintings, and prints that integrate abstraction and representation to explore themes of modern mysticism, cultural and family history, empathic reality, the stigma of the outcast and diasporic identity. Their artwork has been exhibited and published across Canada and internationally (England, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Latvia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, The Czech Republic, Japan, China, and the United States).
