Gail Fennell: Gail's fascination with native plant species began 15 years ago when volunteering with the Edmonton Native Plant Society. With ENPS’ positive mentoring, Gail organized a community-supported project that successfully introduced native forbs and grasses to a stormwater catchment area in her neighbourhood. Since moving to Regina in 2017, Gail organized a five-year volunteer project rejuvenating the Nature Regina garden at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum to become a showcase for native plant species that grow best in Regina, highlighting the diversity of beneficial insects and wildlife that depend on these plants in a city. Gail's current plans use native plants, fruit-bearing trees and shrubs to create a pollinator corridor and food foraging forest that will also support migratory birds to safely pass through Regina.
