In 2020, filmmakers Conor McNally and Mike Maryniuk participated in The Curve, an online series of short films produced by the NFB exploring the impact of COVID-19 in Canadians’ lives through animation, documentary, and digital storytelling.

Brian Stockton is a Regina-based filmmaker and educator. He holds a BFA in film production from the University of Regina, an MFA in film production from York University in Toronto, and was a director resident at Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre. He has a large body of work that includes animation, documentary and fiction filmmaking. Stockton’s films have screened at festivals around the world including several world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival. His most recent work includes the feature film comedy The Sabbatical (2015) and The Epic Story of My Life in Ten Short Films, a series created between 2002 and 2018. Stockton is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Film at the University of Regina.
Conor McNally is a filmmaker and photographer based in Amiskwaciy (Edmonton, Alberta, Treaty 6). He has made numerous short films to date, with his most recent being Iikaakiimaat (2019). He is a proud father and a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta.
Mike Maryniuk, a completely self-taught film virtuoso, was born in Winnipeg but raised in the rural back country of Manitoba. His style is an inventive hybrid of Michel Gondry, Caroline Leaf, and Les Blank. Maryniuk started making hand-processed black and white 16-mm films after finding some 1920s movie posters while working on the demolition of a shoe store. Since then, his films have screened at Sundance, SXSW, NY Views from the Avant Garde, TIFF and around the globe.
