Arts Birthday is an annual, international celebration of art, coined by Fluxus artist Robert Filliou (1926-1987)who produced works as a filmmaker, "action poet," sculptor, and happenings maestro. In 1963, Filliou proclaimed that art was born when a dry sponge was dropped into a bucket of water 1,000,000 years prior. He suggested that a public holiday be established, to celebrate the role that art plays in our everyday lives. By Filliou’s metric, 2021 marks Art’s 1,000,058th birthday. Come celebrate Art, with this year’s remotely presented buffet of artistic delicacies.
